iris.time unlimited (1962-1975), 2023
Semiose éditions
The first issue of iris.time unlimited appeared on October 6, 1962 and its last in April 1975. Part-serious and part-humorous, overflowing with graphic treasures and sent out in beautifully colored envelopes, this revue acted as a promotional medium as well as occasionally a combat manifesto, intended to convey and illustrate the artistic direction as well as the beliefs and opinions of the Iris Clert gallery.
With the unbounded freedom she allowed herself, Iris Clert, for whom imagination and innovation were second nature, offered the greatest latitude to contributors from every walk of life, who took part in her journalistic “artventure”. The magazine included columns on the Parisian art scene, press reviews, puzzles, advertisements, critical presentations, “Le Point de vue d’Iris [Iris’s Opinions], humoristic sketches, “Les Ragots de la galerie” [Gallery Gossip], wacky personal ads and of course a horoscope, edited by Iris Clert’s own psychic.
The revue brimmed over with levity, conviviality and inventiveness. Jealousy was expressed with humor, bitterness with panache and creativity with poetry, while an unfailing love of art and artists was a constant throughout. For Iris Clert, art was a celebration and a field for never-ending experimentation, and iris.time unlimited is the undeniable proof!
